The Lanka Project is a multi-platform, creative initiative centred around the stories of the diverse Sri Lankan – Australian community.
Led by CuriousWorks‘ Artistic Director, Shakthi Sivanathan, The Lanka Project consists of:
- The Other Journey: An immersive audiovisual work (the experience)
- A Counting and Cracking of Heads: A theatre work (the play)
- Banyan: A community-led dance and film project (the community)
- An informal research blog (the blog)
Shakthi’s initiatives go for 3-5 years, always beginning with a research and development stage that then leads to a series of arts projects that best fit the results of the research. This is his second initiative; the first was The Migrant Project.
